The municipal borough of Fürstenfeld counts 5,981 inhabitants (census of population2001). The borough has 1,516 hectare, in total there are 1,670 buildings. Fürstenfeld is on 276m above sea level. The distance to Graz is 56km and to Vienna 156km.

Landscape

The town of Fürstenfeld is located in the hilly country of East Styria, a landscape often referred to as the “Styrian Tuscany” with a variety of grassland, agricultural crop land, fruit orchards, vineyards, meadows with fruit trees and settlements with scattered buildings. Coat of Arms


The coat of arms is split into two parts. The Styrian panther is shown on the left side (heraldic right), the Austrian flag. The oldest provable seal of town originates in the year 1296. The transcription of the current city arms is made out as follows: "SIGILLUM CIVITATIS DE FURSTEINVEL" (“Victory to people / town / Borough of Fürstenfeld”). Nothing is known about a statement of the award of the coat of arms.
